Admission to NITK and other centrally funded technical institutes for UG programmes is managed by Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) based on the scores obtained in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE - Main) conducted by National Testing Agency . The candidate secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards are eligible to appear the JEE-Main and secure the admission. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.
The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate the joint seat allocation for admissions to 97 institutes. Admission to all the academic programs offered by these Institutes will be made through a single platform through online.
The Admissions for Foreign Nationals / Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs) / Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) is managed under Direct Admission of Students Abroad (DASA) Scheme to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), IIITs and other premier Technical Institutions.
